General Data Protection Regulation: we are getting ready
It’s an important month for the implementation of data privacy measures all over the world, and BeFlexi has its standards and measures in place.
What is GDPR?
The General Data Protection Regulation is a set of rules of the European Commission that replaces Directive 95/46/EC and are coming into force to secure more compliance across EU regarding the protection of EU citizen personal data. The Regulation aims at empowering data privacy and changing the way personal data has been handled in the past.
Who is affected?
The Regulation will be applicable as of May 25th, 2018 in all Member States and applies to any organization or otherwise, either within the EU or outside, that maintains records or carries processing activities of data of EU subjects.
Any data that can be used to identify a person is considered personal data.
Why is it important?
GDPR’s importance is three-fold: it promotes transparency on how personal data is being managed; it empowers individual rights on privacy; and it provides extra protection against breaches.
GDPR compliance is of high importance for BeFlexi because we place quality and safety as a top priority. We want our customers to be sure that their data is secured, they have full control of their data and that we respect their privacy rights. BeFlexi’s constant pursuit of high quality and service excellence and the importance we attach to implementing standards ensures our processes are efficient and robust.
How are we preparing?
BeFlexi has always taken steps to ensure that the company protects and respects personal data. With the law coming into effect soon, the team is reviewing all our data filing systems and creating a detailed information sheet to be shared with the CY authorities for approval.
What’s next?
BeFlexi will be participating on May 4th, 2018 at the ‘Personal Data Protection & GDPR Compliance Solutions’ Conference that will be held at the Limassol Chamber of Commerce & Industry. This way we will be further educated on data protection mechanisms and applied solutions so that we continue implementing standards and measures to safeguarding data.
