Flexitank providers have brought to the market a cost-effective and secure solution for non-hazardous cargoes shipment. Since 2005 the number of flexitank loads has increased 10 times and now flexitank market is expected to grow at an annual rate of 18.6% to reach 3 mln loads in 2022.

Companies from food and agricultural industries were among the first to explore flexitank logistics benefits. The nature of flexitank is a one use bladder fitted in a standard shipping container which allow to transport more volume than traditional drums or IBCs. Flexitanks can also serve as short-term storage solution which reduces the logistics costs.

Whilst more and more companies enjoy the benefits of using flexitanks, FOSFA (Federation of Oils, Seeds and Fats Associations Ltd) facilitates the technology development by publishing the new contract to define the terms under which the goods are to be shipped.

Contract No 33 Flexitanks/General Purpose Containers aims to bring the flexibility and clarity to flexitank shipment agreements.  It also allows parties to define the terms under which the goods are to be shipped: CIF/FOB/C&F or other option.

Contract No 32 Full Container Load / ISO Tank Container has been retitled and revamped to cover the demands of dry cargo shippers and wet cargo shippers alike.
